The legendary 212-foot tea clipper Cutty Sark, under full sail in a painting by Frederick
Tudgay (circa 1872), still lives today–in a drydock in Greenwich, England, though she was
badly damaged by a fire in the spring of 2007. The Maltese Falcon was inspired by the
great clippers. (Reproduced with the permission of the Cutty Sark Trust)
